BIA MO Board of Directors meeting
It is a beautiful Saturday morning that I hope everyone else it enjoying relaxing, sleeping in, or playing golf, etc, but here in Columbia at the University Hospital, a devoted 9 folks are meeting as members of the board of directors of Brain Injury Association of Missouri.
This meant getting up at 5am to make the drive, a 3 hour meeting, and a long drive home. Three members could not make the trip so they attended by phone.
This quarterly meeting is an essential part of our successful program which is very efficiently operated out of St. Louis by our Executive Director, Maureen Cunningham, and her very hard working staff.

Among many other topics and matters addressed during the entire meeting, a particularly impressive statistic came up as part of my Treasurer’s report, is that our administrative expense is *less* than 10%. The average for nonprofits runs about 25%, many are much higher.
That means that more than 90 cents of every donated dollar goes to support programs for brain injury survivors and their families, an astounding accomplishment for a state wide operation.
This includes putting on local programs throughout the year across the state, our Annual Statewide Conference (this year is the 12th), a summer camp program, educational scholarships, survivor and family seminars, legislative advocacy, and providing many other resources available for members and the general public.
So, please consider supporting BIA MO with any small contribution you may be able to make to help survivors of brain injury which comes in all kinds from trauma, stroke, anoxia, etc.
